Digging up the gold mining history of Hill End
Art historian Tom Thompson and his wife Elizabeth are restoring Lyle’s cottage, once the Sydney Hotel, one of the 1870s cottages in Hill End. Tom is a wealth of knowledge about the region and its legacy. He shared some of his knowledge – and his collection, which ranges from photos, documents and ephemera to a genuine gold ladle – with Angela Owens from ABC Central West on 8 October 2012.
